Life has never been about the big stuff, has it? It’s always been about the little things that make our hearts sing and that feeling you get when you know you are sitting in a moment that is perfect.
Here are are a few of mine as I am heading back to a world that is not the same place I left.
Hiking in the rain and then standing under a beautiful tree to send a photo to my Mom.
Talking to my Mom every night no matter where I am. Every night.
Sitting next to my daughter, legs touching, her hand on my arm.
My son-in-laws sweet hugs and his kind heart in everything he does and says.
The photos my my first grandchild that I look at almost constantly.
My friends running through the parking lot with their arms open after all these weeks of missing them.
Cold, cold, cold fall air on my face.
Hot tea in this nasty paper cup.
The sound of air ruffling through the wings of birds flying past.
Sitting in the dark and counting my blessings for so long the stars disappear.
Miles and miles of rolling hills covered with magical autumn colors and then a sudden burst of rain that for a moment turns into snow.
So many people asking, “Are you okay?”
Knowing our Asheville angels have our backs.
The ability to turn a tough moment into a lesson, then a stepping stone, then a plan for change.
I could go on but I am hoping you know these things already and can create your own lists of the moments in your life that are like mine.
Things have never impressed me and neither have people who brag about them. Once you find out that walking through a quiet forest is better than a ride in a fancy car lots of things make you happy.
It’s the little stuff. Always has been and always will be.
Go smell a tree, hug someone close by, throw out a random hello, and let the world see a Broad who gets it.
And now, as we did in the old days of journalism…###…this one is over.
hugs:)
Thanks Andrea...don't be too hard on yourself if you don't get everything done...just start a new list!!!!!
