Going Rouge...
...without the computer
I’m not usually where I sit and write this. I’m GONE. I’m OUT, and this is the first time in probably 50 years I decided not to take a computer with me, because my arms will be holding my #2 grandson. Wait, were computers around 50 years ago? Nope. But, alas, I still use a notebook and pencils. How I love pencils!
I don’t want to check emails and worry about the things I have no control over for a few days. I’ll still be checking in on my Mom every day, and I’ll also check in on #1 grandson, but that’s it.
Who cares about the huge tree that fell into the yard just to the right of where I am standing with one of my bird feeders? So the property it fell from is common ground, meaning there is a little wooded stretch behind our house that can’t be developed and affords a pathway for the deer, bears, the fox and her newborns, squirrels (damn them!), and sometimes a coyote, rabbit, you get it.
I was told earlier today that if a tree falls and it’s still healthy, we have to pay for it. I’m pretty sure healthy trees do not commit suicide. I’ll worry about that when we get back. The nesting Bluebirds can own the yard and house. Holy Shit! We have tried everything to keep them from pecking their little heads off on ALL of our windows. Nothing has worked, and they start very early. I am hoping they will snap out of it by the time we get back, and the babies will be learning how to fly.
I will be taking notes, and I’ll bring you with me, but a little later this time. I’m working on something, and I also need the ambience of where we are going so my characters can follow me when I get to that part of the book.
In the meantime, stay away from falling trees, and dodge birds who are protecting their nests.
And now, as we did in the old days of journalism…###…this one is over.

well, the birds love the new backyard as they have new low limbs to play on!!!!
We have birds (mostly robins, I suspect) that keep trying to build nests in places we simply won't allow. We have 1.3 acres full of trees and bushes where they can build! Heck, I even allowed one to build inside an outdoor wall hanging this year!! Every spring we have had to shoo them from some new location. Sorry to hear about your fallen tree! Many large limbs have fallen from ours over the years, to include this past ice storm that hit middle Tennessee pretty badly at the end of January. We have had our work cut out for us hauling them around the property to either burn or make a pile for the city to pick up. Busy bees, we all are, right? Us and "the nature"! Hope you come back to a verdant mountain top after what I am sure will be a delightful trip (especially sans some technology!)!!!
